Ductility of RC Columns confined with FRP Sheets

Abstract Many existing structures show insufficient seismic capacity, with the lack of members' ductility being a critical factor. Aim is to manage increase their ductility, through confinement composite fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets. In present paper, available analytical procedures Eurocode 8‐Part 3 (2005) and draft 2022 Greek Code for Structural Interventions (CSI) 2013 revision are examined, compared together an model proposed in literature. Analytical results above also both experimental data each other degree reliability evaluated. The current EC8‐3 (2005), although many cases converges quite well data, unrealistic obtained large thickness confined material. This seems be corrected EC83 2022. CSI adopts very simple straight‐forward procedure producing most conservative results, while revised expressions included version, has better convergence experiments. However, material, factor values unrealistically high. literature advantage correcting aforementioned result.
